Homeschool Art Classes and Tours

Peoria area’s newest and largest art gallery—Artful Journey—will be hosting art classes for homeschool students starting the fall of 2025. The instructor is a veteran homeschool mom and art teacher, Shari Pittenger. Shari also has her art hanging in the gallery as one of the ‘resident artists’.

The first semester classes will focus on drawing skills and improving your work by incorporating the elements of art such as color, line, texture, etc.

The second semester will build on the first semester’s class content and will cover a variety of related subject matter such as lettering, graphic design, optical illusions, sculpture, etc. Each class will include a Bible verse and brief presentation of how this verse relates to the art world or a quote from an artist and how it relates to Scripture. We will work on a project in class and there will also be art homework.

TOURS

Tours for you and your family and/or co-op are available. This is a very family-friendly gallery full of the work of very talented local artists. Please keep in mind though, that some of the art is very fragile and expensive and for the artists’ sake, we have the “you break it—you buy it” policy. Please call the gallery at 309-632-4701 to schedule a time.

We hope to see many of you there soon so we can assist you and your family with your “artful journey”!
